PROFILE: Arthur Advisory is a bespoke accounting, business advisory, tax consulting and virtual CFO advisory firm based in Melbourne. We are passionate about partnering with our clients and helping them grow their businesses. Our ambition is to help our clients to improve their business and simplify their tax obligations plus bookkeeping services with personal service from Arthur Advisory.

POSITION SUMMARY: The role of a Junior Accountant is our firm is ideal for someone who has a good understanding of the ‘accounting 101s’ and is ready to refine what they have learnt at university and apply these skills to client problems. You can expect mentoring and training along the way to sharpen you into a business services champion. 
Whilst tasks will vary depending on the requirements of our clients and your previous experience to date, you can expect this role will encompass the following:

  • Hands-on, client-facing work from day one.

  • Build positive relationships with clients and partner organisations.

Accountancy and Advisory

  • Providing bookkeeping services such as accounts payable and payroll processing for our clients;
  • Preparation of financial reports and forecasting;
  • Assistance with the preparation of IAS, BAS and Tax Returns;
  • Assisting clients with Xero matters;
  • Assisting clients with general queries.

Client Management:

  • Manage a busy schedule with multiple clients, working with different Arthur Advisory staff and partner organisations;
  • Perform work in varying places, from home, client sites and the Arthur Advisory offices;
  • Responsively manage queries and requests from your clients, their staff, suppliers and customers;
  • Ensure client confidentiality is maintained at all times.

General Administration:

  • Maintaining general office organisation;
  • File management (in Xero or hard copy);

Assisting the rest of the management team with any additional duties as required.

Stakeholder Relationships:

  • Arthur Advisory staff and partner organisations;
  • Clients businesses and their team;
  • Regulatory bodies (ATO etc).


  • Accounting, Finance, Commerce, Economics or related degree and graduated at the end of 2019 or mid-2020;
  • Strong interpersonal skills and teamwork-oriented;
  • Familiarity with Xero cloud accounting platform (desirable);
  • Strong analytical skills, accuracy and attention to detail;
  • Brilliant organisational, written and verbal communication skills;
  • Detail-oriented, ability to multitask, work independently and prioritise tasks.
