Internship Opportunity with Hawkers Brewery

We have an exciting 10-week internship opportunity at the Hawkers Beer Brewery in Reservoir as part of the Moonee Valley Internships Project from the Maribyrnong and Moonee Valley Local Learning and Employment Network.

The internship is for a young person seeking additional experience in Warehousing or is looking for a pathway into the Food and/or Beverage industry. This is an opportunity to provide you with the necessary experiences and networks to take your first step on the job ladder. 

Moonee Valley Internships Project staff will provide you with additional education and employment pathway support (resume writing, job search, pathway planning, etc.) to guide you to land your first job.

Internship Position Description 

This is an unpaid, internship position. The MMV LLEN has made a commitment to partner with local businesses to offer internships to local young people connected with the Moonee Valley area (live, play, or study) aged 18 - 24 year old.  To qualify for the Internship you must be currently unemployed.  Depending on your circumstances you may be eligible to claim this Internship as an approved Centrelink Activity through your Job Active Provider.

Position Title: Hawkers Beer Brewery Intern

Area of work: Warehousing, Transport and Logistics, Production Line, Food and Beverage Industry

Internship Allowance: Moonee Valley Internships will pay a total of $200 (approx. $20 per week) to cover costs related to this role (a volunteer allowance to help with travel, lunch, etc).

Days of Placement: 1-2 days per week (negotiable)

Effective Date: 15 February 2016 (negotiable)


About the company:

Hawkers Beer Brewery is a newly launched venture between the Middle East's first ever craft brewer, Mazen Hajjar from 961 Beer, and respected Melbourne chef Joseph Abboud (Rumi, Moor's Head).

They launched their first beer on February 19 and on February 21 it won the People's Choice award at the Great Australian Beer Festival in Geelong.

Hawkers Brewery is one of the most high tech breweries in the southern hemisphere. The brewery is all about efficiency.

Now, Hawkers Brewery is looking for an enthusiastic intern to join their team for 10 weeks (1 – 2 days per week).



As an Intern at Hawkers Brewery you will work in a warehouse environment where the beer is brewed. You will be working together and guided by an enthusiastic team of brewers and warehousing staff.

Support the day-to day work at the brewery
Help with bottling of beer
Filling and packing bottles
Work on production line
Support dispatch and delivery
Loading and un-loading of goods and pallets (if you have a forklift license you may be able to use that skill)
Receiving and stacking goods

Key Selection Criteria

Essential Qualities:

You will need:

To be very enthusiastic about this exceptional opportunity
An interest in warehousing or in the food and beverage industry
A strong willingness to learn
An ability to follow instructions
A positive attitude
To be reliable and punctual
Be committed to get to the work site (either by car, being dropped off, public transport, bike. Address: 167 Henty St, Reservoir VIC 3073)
To be self-motivated

Desirable (but not essential) Skill:

A current forklift licence

To qualify for the internship:

You must be a young person between the ages of 18 – 24 years
Have a connection to Moonee Valley (through residential address, study, recreation - play, clubs, friends or family members)
You must be currently unemployed
You cannot hold a completed higher degree (Bachelor, Masters, PhD etc)
